![]() ![]() I love the images that were painted in my head while reading, but that's all I got out of the book. Like I said, the imagery was absolutely wonderful. Guy really enjoys that stuff, I guess? Nothing wrong with that but it felt like I was almost reading a continuation of the Southern Reach Trilogy at parts, with the way he was describing certain things. Imagery is brought in from the Southern Reach Trilogy. With no outright explanation, and nothing I could glean meaning from. There are other numbers mentioned in the book, 10, 7, 3, 0, After the first section of the book, there are numbers next to paragraphs, like they're versions(?), and I never understood what it was supposed to mean. There are entire passages where a few sentences are repeated over and over again. I didn't end up hating it as I got to the end, but I just didn't get it. The imagery is wonderful, beautiful, but the story doesn't make much sense, and didn't get any better as the it went along. There were a few other books I had to finish first, but last night I finally finished reading it.įrom the start I did not enjoy it. ![]() I picked up Dead Astronauts a while back because I really enjoyed Vandermeer's Southern Reach Trilogy and a few folks had glowing recommendations of DA, saying if I liked the trilogy then I would really dig this book too. ![]()
