![]() ![]() I found the politics of the families and their interactions to be very interesting even as it was often infuriating as Devon’s free will was taken away. We begin by getting a quick glimpse of Devon as a child before she grows up to be a wife and mother and the author very quickly shows us how the girls and boys are raised differently. ![]() I didn’t know a lot going into this one, but was instantly intrigued. ![]() ![]() When her son is born with a twist on the natural diets for her people, she must find a way to protect him at all costs. She is not sold on the life she has been raised to believe in, especially when it means being removed from the children she loves. Different stories have different flavors, but this is how they stay alive.ĭevon is a woman which means she has been raised to give birth to a new generation, something that has become a struggle for her people. Instead of reading and consuming stories with their eyes or ears, they consume stories by eating them. THE BOOK EATERS is set in a world much like our own, but there is a group of people living under the radar on the Yorkshire Moors and they are book eaters. It is a book that had me instantly intrigued as it combines two of my favorite genres – fantasy and horror. I received edition of THE BOOK EATERS by Sunyi Dean in an Illumicrate box. ![]()
