The Swallows and Amazons series is a series of twelve children's books by English author Arthur Ransome, named after the title of the first book in the series and set between the two World Wars. Instead, the children's activities focus on ice skating, signalling with semaphore and Morse code, and sledging. The series' usual emphasis on boats and sailing is largely absent, as the story is set in the winter.
